Fans of Auckland punk group Retaliator were surprised this morning when the band announced a string of reunion shows on their Facebook page, just two years after the band initially planned to call it a day.
Superfan Amelia Wynn commented excitedly, stating "I only got to see you guys play three times back in the day, so I will definitely be attending!" Other fans were less than ecstatic, and more than a little perplexed by the band's decision, posting things like "New Album??", "Are you guys back in the studio or" and "Come to Brazil".
Guitarist Brendan Shoal divulged the influences that came along with the band's decision "A lot can happen in 2 years, and interests can start to fluctuate. Life has changed a lot for me and I personally got into the UFC. Watching it, mostly."
When questioned about the potential of a new record in the future, Bassist/Vocalist Jennifer Lindsay claims that "Nothing is set in stone yet, but after two years I wouldn't be surprised if we had a new creative spark and a renewed sense of direction. All told though, I'm excited to play the same setlist for all the kids that listened to us back in the day. It's going to be such a special event."
