As we slowly start to approach the warmer weather in Australia we turn the corner for what is aimed to be the next big slew of summer festivals. Coming up on the tail end of September is Listen Out festival, bringing some of the biggest current names in Hip Hop such as A$AP Rocky, Lil Skies, Brockhampton, Skepta, and plenty others.
So apart from making sure you're covered head to toe in sunscreen and aren't getting any unwanted attention from sniffer dogs, what are some must-have essentials for the music festival scene?
Ideally, you'd want comfy clothes that aren't going to make you die in the heat. Wide-brimmed hats are also a smart idea. Something loose that offers sun-protection is a good move, but make sure it's not a thick or tight-fitting material that's only going to make you sweat and dehydrate you.
Speaking of which, water is a must. This can be tricky to navigate during festivals, especially in the midst of alcohol being on sale. Most venues will let you take in an empty water bottle which you can fill up, and if you're going to be in the sun all day then you'll most definitely be thirsty.
Understandably, festival-goers don't necessarily want to carry around all their belongings all day, which is why bringing along your own bumbag or pouch can come in very handy.
Something else to consider is a unique trinket to make you stand out from the crowd. If you get separated from your group, something that makes you and your friends easy to identify can be extremely beneficial, and certainly beats the alternative of having one finger in your ear while screaming into your smartphone yelling-- "You're where? Near the giant whhhaaatt!?"
